Abstract:

Introduction: The present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of debriefing and Integrative Reminiscence therapy treatments on the trauma of CrossFit athletes in Shiraz. Method: This quasi-experimental study used a pretest-posttest design with a control group. The research sample included ۴۵ CrossFit athletes suffering from trauma who were referred to the psychiatric clinic of Hafez Hospital in Shiraz. Based on the short screening scale for trauma and traumatic memories, and diagnostic interviews based on the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the trauma was diagnosed. Then, the CrossFit athletes were randomly assigned to one of the experimental groups (n=۱۱) or the control group (n=۱۱). Results: The results of multivariate analysis of covariance showed that the mean difference in trauma and traumatic memories scores among the three treatment groups of debriefing and integrative memory therapy was not significant. Both methods were effective in significantly reducing trauma and traumatic memories. However, the effectiveness of debriefing in reducing reports of individuals was significantly higher than integrative memory therapy. Research findings: The findings of this study indicate that there is no significant difference in the effectiveness of the mentioned therapeutic approaches in reducing the trauma of CrossFit athletes in Shiraz. But if trauma symptoms exist in these individuals, debriefing is the preferred treatment for reducing trauma. In summary, both debriefing and integrative memory therapy are effective in reducing sports trauma in CrossFit athletes, but debriefing is more effective.
