Abstract:
The present study assesses the difference between undergraduate and postgraduate students in impulsiveness. For this purpose, data were collected from ۲۰۰ students of Kolkata, India, studying in various colleges and universities and having arts background that is students studying Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts, of which ۱۰۰ were undergraduates and ۱۰۰ were postgraduates. A purposive sampling technique was followed. The Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-۱۱) was used for this study. An Independent t-test was used to find the difference between the two groups. A significant difference was found between undergraduates and postgraduates. The results showed that undergraduates (m=۱۹.۹۸) are more impulsive than postgraduates (m=۱۶.۱۲). The study throws light on the factors that result in high impulsiveness among undergraduates while suggesting ways to deal with it, to improve the quality the life of students.
