Abstract:
Children and adolescence is the population of the human life span who is in the developmental phase where they are yet to develop their physical and psychological maturity. They have not learned to develop their cognitive and emotional maturity and process certain experiences of life, especially those experience which are aggressive and violent in nature. When faced with traumatic events, their way of processing that incidents could have lasting impact on how they developed their own self. The present paper aims to explore the trauma reaction and the development of Post traumatic reaction of children and adolescence who has been displaced and is living in relief camps due to an ethnic violence in the state of Manipur, India. The Child PTSD Symptom scale for DSM-۵ (CPSS-۵) is used to assess the Post-traumatic stress disorder and level of severity that they have experienced in the past ۵ months after the violence has erupted. Children and adolescence who is within the age range of ۸ to ۱۸ years have been assessed using CPSS-۵. The results of the assessment will be discussed later.
