Abstract:

Synthesis of ZnAl۲O۴ and ZnAl۲O۴/ZnO nanostructure powders and in situ crystallization ofZnAl۲O۴ and ZnAl۲O۴/ZnO coating layers on sintered alumina granules by microwave assistedcombustion method was investigated. The effect of different parameters, such as primary aluminagranule mean size, precursor concentration, pH, calcinations temperature on structure, microstructure, and photocatalytic activity of samples was studied. Structure and microstructureanalyses of samples were performed using scanning electron microscopy and x-ray diffractiontechniques. The photocatalytic activities of the samples were evaluated by degradation of methylorangesolution as model under UV light source in a prototype photocatalytic agitated reactor. Results showed that photocatalytic activity was be influenced considerable variation of primaryalumina granule size, pH and calcinations temperature
