Abstract:

Synthesis of nanostructure tungsten trioxide by co-precipitation and combustion synthesismethods were investigated. The effect of different parameters, such as precursor type,surfactant addition, calcination process and dopant type on structure, microstructure, andphotocatalytic activity of samples were studied. Structure and microstructure analyses ofsamples were performed using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electronmicroscopy and x-ray diffraction techniques. The photocatalytic activities of the samples wereevaluated by degradation of methyl-orange solution as a model under UV light. Resultsshowed that introducing dopants led to structure variation of tungsten trioxide from monoclinicstructure to tetragonal one. Moreover, presence of Ethylene glycol in the synthesis process andcalcination affected the mean particle size and morphology of powders, considerably. Also,photocatalytic activities of samples were significantly changed by variation of mentionedparameters
