Abstract:

This study was conducted to investigate Structural and magnetic properties of CoFe۲O۴,Mg۰.۱Co۰.۹Fe۲O۴ and Zn۰.۱Mg۰.۱Co۰.۸Fe۲O۴ nanoferrites synthesized by pechini sol gel method.X-ray powder diffraction patterns have confirmed the pure cubic crystalline phase of thesynthesized nanoparticles. In this survey X-ray powder diffraction and Field Emission scanningelectron microscopy (FESEM) were employed to characterize the crystallite sizes and structureproperties of these ferrite nanocrystals. The morphology and stoichiometric ratio of thecompositional elements were analyzed by FESEM which equipped with energy dispersivespectroscopy (EDS). EDS showed that the elemental ratios were stoichiometric. The particlesize was calculated by using the Scherrer formula. The observed and calculated size of particleslie within the range ۲۰–۵۰ nm. The lattice constant increases and the crystallite size decreasesby adding Mg to the cobalt ferrit. Also, The lattice constant decreased and the crystallite sizeincreased by adding Zn to Mg۰.۱Co۰.۹Fe۲O۴ sample. Magnetic properties were explored usingvibrating sample magnetometry. The maximum saturation magnetization and coercive fieldsrecorded for the pure cobalt ferrite and Mg۰.۱Co۰.۹Fe۲O۴ sample respectively. The obtaineddata was interpreted also on the basis of redistribution of iron ions between the two sublattices. The as-prepared samples were promising candidates for various applications
