Abstract:
Gliomas are the most predominant primary tumors of the CNS. Gliomas share features of normal glialcells and are named conferring their similarities with these cells. TP۵۳ mutation is detected in various cancers, including gliomas, and it is one of the most frequently mutated genes in this cancer. It has been shown thatmutant TP۵۳ can promote metastasis and proliferation in cancer cells. TP۵۳ encodes the p۵۳ protein, whichexhibits its role as a nuclear transcription factor, by binding to specific DNA sequences. TP۵۳ alterations canresult in a change in multiple genes’ expressions that are under the transcriptional regulation of p۵۳, directly orindirectly. TP۵۳ can affect the cell lines of gliomas through different pathways and by applying its impacts onother genes and proteins such as KIF۱۱ and ALKBH۲. Also, TP۵۳-Induced Glycolysis and Apoptosis Regulator(TIGAR) can be regulated by p۵۳, and exert its impacts on glioma cells. In this review, we debate these pathwaysand their effects on gliomas.
