Abstract:

Supercapacitors have attracted worldwide research interest because oftheir intrinsic and extraordinary capabilities for using as potential energystorage systems that have made the future horizon looks brilliance forthem. One of the most significant components of these devices areelectrodes which are composed of different active materials as like ascarbon (graphene, graphene oxide, carbon nano tubes and…), metaloxides, conductive polymers, etc. that are adhered to a conductivesurface called current collector to transfer stored energy out of capacitor. In this research, effect of current collector on the electrochemicalbehavior of graphene based electrodes has been investigated and theinfluence of these materials on the capacitive behavior and charge savingmechanism has been studied. For fabrication of electrodes, graphene andgraphene oxide as active materials were chemically bonded on Ti, Al, Cuand graphite current collectors and fabricated electrodes structure andelectrochemical properties was studied by different methods. Resultsrevealed that different types of active materials and current collectorschange the electrochemical behavior of electrodes as well as theirspecific capacitance and capacitance will be improved not only byincreasing conductivity of current collector but also by decreasinginterfacial electrical resistance between active materials and currentcollectors.
