How is sleep duration and sleep quality in patients with obstructive and non-obstructive myocardial infarction? abstract

Background and aims: considering the high prevalence of sleep disorders, worsening clinical prognosis in patients with myocardial infarction (MI), and considering that the mechanisms of the relationship between sleep components and heart diseases are not yet known. This study aimed to compare sleep duration and quality in patients with obstructive and non-obstructive MI.Methods: In this case-control study, 282 obstructive and non-obstructive MI (n=141 in each group) patients who referred to Dr. Heshmat Hospital in Rasht in 2023 were investigated. Demographic data checklist and the standard sleep quality questionnaire (PSQI) were used. To analyze the variables, Chi-square test and univariate logistic regression models were used. Results:Conclusion: The results of this study emphasize the importance of informing about myocardial infarction risk factors. Therefore, identification of these risk factors is required as important means of prevention and treatment of myocardial infarction.
