BEHAVIOR OF RC FRAMED STRUCTURES DESIGNED ACCORDING TO IRANIAN SEISMIC CODE DUE TO NEAR-FAULT EARTHQUAKES abstract
In this paper six- and three-storey RC plane frames , representing medium and low-rise symmetric framed buildings were designed according to Iranian seismic code (2800) with reference to ground profile type I (rock site) in a high-risk seismic region . Numerical analysis were carried out to investigate the effect of near-fault ground motions on current aseismic buildings , designed according to Iranian seismic code . The Iranian seismic code’s design spectrum is exceeded by some response spectra for the near-fault motions. The results show that near-fault earthquake effects should be taken into account in this code.
