Evaluation of the frequency of migraine and depression and the relationship between them among medical students of Kerman university of medical sciences

in order to determine the frequency of migraine and depression and the realtionship between them a study was carried out among ۲۳۸ randomly selected medical students of Kerman university of medical sciences during April ۱۹۹۵.back depression inventory(BDI) questionaire was used to determine deoression.in addition a questionaire in relation to migraine based on the international classification of headache was used.the findings indicated that ۷۸ (۳۲.۸%) of the subjects had migraine,depression,or both of which,۲۲(۹.۲%) had migraine headache,۳۷(۱۵.۵%) suffered from depression and ۱۹(۷.۹%) had migraine + depression.in general,۴۱(۱۷.۱%) of the subjects had migraine headache and ۵۶ (۲۳.۴%) suffered from depression.the Chi square analysis revealed a statistically significant relationship between migraine and depression(p<۰.۰۰۵).these finding indicate that the occurance of both migraine headache and depression is significant among medical students of Kerman university of medical sciences.
