Relationship between serum copper & ceruloplasmin level and dependence on sample abstract

The correlation between the serum level of copper and ceruloplasmin was determined among sarcheshmeh copper workers and compared with Kerman blood bank diners samples. Serum copper was analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry and ceruloplasmin was determined by a caloric enzymatic assay. The concentration of serum copper in the test group was ۹۳+_۲۰.۴ mg/ DL which was significantly lower than that of the control (۹۹.۲+_۲۱.۱ mg/ DL). In contrast the serum level of ceruloplasmin in the test group was ۲۰.۴+_۴.۹۴ mg/ DL which was significantly greater than that of the control group (۱۶.۵۴+_۳.۱۶ mg/ dl). There was a positive correlation between the copper & ceruloplasmin level as plotted for either test or the control group. The equation for regression lines were different, suggesting that extrapolation of one parameter ( either copper or ceruloplasmin) is possible only under special circumstances.
