Abstract:
This study was performed to define the correlation between the level of consciousness based on Glasgow coma scale ( GCS), Glasgow outcome scale( GOS) and leukocyte count. Two hundred and thirty three patients ( female: ۴۸, male: ۱۸۵) ranged between ۱-۷۵ years old were studied. The results showed that there was a negative correlation between increasing leukocyte count and GCS ( n=۲۳۳.r= .۰.۳, p <۰.۰۰۱) and a positive correlation between increasing leukocyte count and GOS ( n=۲۳۳, r= .۰.۲, p<۰.۰۵). These findings reveal that leukocyte count has prognostic value in patients with head injury.
