Presenting a model for understanding the dark aspects of the organizational myth phenomenon in Yazd University of Medical Sciences abstract
Background and goal: The dark side of the organization is not a clear and transparent phenomenon, but rather a random set of negative characteristics in various dimensions of the organization. Based on this, the aim of this study is to provide a model for understanding the dark aspects of the phenomenon of organizational myth.Methodology: The type of research is considered to be descriptive-exploratory in terms of its purpose, applied and developmental, and qualitative in terms of the type of data. The sample of participants in the research was 20 scientific experts and experts in the management field of Yazd University of Medical Sciences, who were selected by purposive sampling method. Data collection was done with the interview tool. The interviews continued until the theoretical saturation stage was reached and this saturation was achieved after 15 interviews. The data were analyzed using the foundational data theorizing approach during three stages of open, central and selective coding.Findings: 114 concepts from the open codes of the interviews were classified into 21 subcategories and 7 main categories, which were placed in the form of a paradigmatic model in the form of six main categories, which are: causal conditions (organizational causes and individual causes), background (environment intra-organizational and extra-organizational environment), interventionist (characteristics of employees and characteristics of managers), central phenomenon (dark aspects of organizational myths), strategies (individual development strategies and organizational level strategies) and consequences (individual, organizational and social consequences) ). The obtained model describes the understanding of the dark aspects of organizational myths in Yazd University of Medical Sciences in a deep and rich way.Conclusion: Knowing the influencing factors, strategies and consequences of understanding the dark aspects of the organizational myth phenomenon in Yazd University of Medical Sciences using the proposed model can help the policy makers, planners and agents of the healthcare sector in managing this phenomenon.Background and goal: The dark side of the organization is not a clear and transparent phenomenon, but rather a random set of negative characteristics in various dimensions of the organization.
