Abstract:
In contemporary industrial settings, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems play an increasingly vital role in various environments, ensuring enhanced and precise monitoring of ongoing processes. The deployment of SCADA systems aims to improve control, reduce reliance on human resources, achieve energy cost savings, and facilitate reliable and efficient communications. These systems find applications in monitoring and controlling diverse processes such as railway networks, chemical processes, transportation, urban water supply systems, electricity generation and distribution, oil and gas pipelines, and other extensive processes. The convergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) with industrial automation marks a significant milestone in the ongoing industrial revolution. Industrial IoT connections automate machines more effectively, and notably, they seamlessly integrate with SCADA systems. Anticipations include increased integration among components, leading to data collection systems either giving way to or merging with the Internet of Things. Our objective is to scrutinize the performance and structure of these systems and delve into the role of the Internet of Things within this framework.
