Abstract:

Today, energy and environmental problems caused by urbanization, population growth and technology have put the use of renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources in the foreground on a local, regional and global scale. The construction sector, which causes environmental pollution by using a significant part of natural resources, uses energy that goes from the extraction of raw materials to the stages of construction, use and destruction. Therefore, the use of renewable energy resources and dealing with environmental problems are not only considered in the field of architecture, but also in other fields related to architecture. And the increase in sensitivity due to environmental and energy problems requires the cooperation of all disciplines related to building production. Providing conservation of resources by using renewable energy sources helps to solve environmental problems. In order to solve environmental problems, it is useful to define the aforementioned concepts, determine energy use criteria using renewable energy sources in buildings, and approach the subject with an interdisciplinary approach. Biological energy, water, solar energy and wind are easily supplied through renewable energy sources and do not pollute the environment. They are used in different ways in buildings. Parallel to these developments, solar houses in Turkey have also been implemented by universities and related organizations. However, it is necessary to increase the number of such applications and ensure the widespread use of solar energy in buildings. In this action, the use of solar energy in buildings in the context of sustainability and solar houses in Turkey designed to use solar energy will be evaluated and suggestions will be made about the optimal use of solar energy in buildings.
