Abstract:

This executive plan outlines a comprehensive strategy for the implementation of smart and innovative waste management practices in Tehran, Iran. With rapid urbanization and population growth, Tehran faces significant challenges in waste management, including inefficient collection systems, limited recycling infrastructure, and environmental pollution. The goal of this plan is to address these challenges and transition to a modern, sustainable, and technologically advanced waste management system. The plan encompasses three key phases: planning, design, and implementation. During the planning phase, a thorough assessment of current waste management practices is conducted, stakeholders are engaged, and a comprehensive strategy is developed with clear objectives and timelines. In the design phase, an integrated waste management system is designed, incorporating modern technologies such as RFID tagging, GPS tracking, and sensor-based monitoring. Suitable locations for waste management facilities are identified, and green infrastructure elements are integrated into the design. In the implementation phase, innovative waste management projects are piloted, city-wide waste collection programs are rolled out, recycling and composting facilities are established, and public awareness campaigns are launched. A monitoring and evaluation framework is established to track progress, measure impact, and ensure accountability. By implementing this executive plan, Tehran aims to transform into a model city for sustainable and intelligent waste management practices, promoting environmental stewardship, public health, and economic development.
