Abstract:
This article delves into a comparative analysis of the life cycle exergy consumption of two predominantresidential building structures: wooden and concrete frames. Anchored within the context of buildingphysics and the quest for sustainable urban development, this study aims to discern the suitability of theseconstruction methodologies for future-proof city districts. Drawing inspiration from the wealth of buildingphysics literature from Europe, authors research adopts a Mixed-method approach, effectively blendingqualitative review with quantitative exergy calculations. The city of Bergen, Norway, serves as the focalpoint for this examination, providing a practical lens through which the implications of our findings can bevisualized. The exergy data, integral to our analysis, has been meticulously sourced from a diverse array ofreferences, ensuring a comprehensive and realistic assessment of both construction types in the realm ofsustainable development.
