Abstract:
In light of recent global pressures, ports have been compelled to reevaluate their approaches to sustainable development, prompting the implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at seamlessly incorporating sustainability principles into their operational frameworks. This study examined the participation of ۱۸ sampled ports in the implementation of a range of strategies aimed at achieving sustainable development goals. To achieve geographical diversity, an effort was made to select ports from various regions around the world for inclusion in this study. The survey results indicated that among the examined ports, greater emphasis was placed on environmental issues compared to social and economic concerns. Additionally, the surveys revealed that European ports exhibited stronger performance in implementing sustainable development goals in comparison to their Asian and North American counterparts. Focusing too much on one aspect can lead to neglecting other important areas. Therefore, it is crucial to adopt a comprehensive approach that encompasses all dimensions of sustainable development. This approach should aim for a balanced integration of economic growth, societal needs, and environmental preservation.
