Stress and Depression of Elementary and Secondary Teachers during COVID-۱۹ Pandemic: A National Survey in the Philippines

This study aims to measure the extent of job-related stress and depression experienced by educators in the Philippines amid the COVID-۱۹ pandemic. This effort involves analysis of their demographic characteristics, stress levels, and depressive states of ۲۱,۱۳۲ teachers in the Philippines. Furthermore, a significant difference between profiles was carried out to identify possible connections with indicators of stress and depression. Interestingly, the empirical evidence gathered from this study challenges the assumption that the teaching profession inherently predisposes individuals to stress and depression. Nonetheless, the study emphasizes the importance of educators acquainting themselves with strategies for managing stress and mechanisms to evade such psychological challenges. Importantly, this investigation addresses a drawback in the previous study, which suffered from a limited number of participants and was conducted prior to the onset of the COVID-۱۹ pandemic.
