Abstract:

Herein, a FEM model is presented for surveying tension distribution, deflection, erosion,and stiffness of a non-spherical ball-socket joint undergoing quasi-static state loading.The FEM obtained results validation have been done by comparing its results with thoseobtained from MATLAB coding, analytical calculations, and experiments. Meshoptimized was found by utilizing lost energy criteria, then deflection of the joint wasextracted and compared with one in MATLAB to validate the accuracy of modelmeshing. Also, the tension distribution in the joint was extracted for four different cycleloading (۵۰۰, ۱۰۰۰, ۲۰۰۰, and ۵۰۰۰ cycles), and was used for estimating the erosion andthe stiffness of the joint. To achieve good and accurate evaluation about the erosion andstiffness of the joint, some important required coefficients for ABAQUS and LS-DYNAsoftware packages were extracted from the experimental results. Finally, the obtainedresults of FEM were validated by analytical calculations and experiments.
