Modulating effects of treadmill exercise on the upregulation of miR-155-5p inthe hippocampus of sleep-deprived rats abstract

Recent research has found that miR-155-5p, a key player in neuroinflammation, was upregulatedin sleep deprivation conditions. The positive and protective effects of regularexercise on the neuroinflammation induced by sleep deprivation (SD) has been previouslydemonstrated. The purpose of this investigation is to determine how regular treadmillexercise use affects the expression of miR-155-5p in sleep-deprived rats. In this work, weconducted our studies on female ovariectomized rats since they are more susceptible to theeffects of SD than intact rats.in particular, brain functions are known to be significantlyregulated by miRNAs. The impact of four weeks of treadmill training and 72 hours of SD onthe expression of miR-155-5p was investigated. The real-time PCR technique was used tomeasure the level of miR-155-5p. MiR-155-5p was up-regulated by SD, however, this wasreduced by 4 weeks of treadmill exercise. The compensatory effect of exercise on miR-155-5p expression in sleep-deprived rats may be mediated by treadmill running’s antiinflammatoryproperties.
