Abstract:
Adsorption of reactive red ۱۲۰ (RR–۱۲۰) on Fe۳O۴ magneticnanoparticles coated by silica which were modified by ۳–aminopropyl triethoxysilane is described. Results indicated that thenanoparticles were able to remove about ۹۸% of RR–۱۲۰ (۲۰.۰ mgL−۱) under the optimum conditions of ۱۵.۰ mg nanoparticles, pH=۳.۰,and contact time of ۷.۰ minutes. Adsorption equilibrium was best fitto the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The maximum adsorptioncapacity of the adsorbent was ۲۳.۹۸ mg per gram dye. A pseudo–second order kinetic model exhibited the best fit to the experimentaldata.
