Fire resistance of concrete structures per Russian code abstract
The thermal gradient resulting from fire exposure plays an important role in determining themechanical properties of reinforcing rebars in reinforced concrete structures. Therefore, different designcodes such as ACI 261, Eurocode and SP 468 face this subject with different approaches. In some cases, the minimum thickness of cover is determined using prescriptive tables and some others have a calculationbasedmethod. This study focuses on determination of minimum concrete cover thickness for flexuralmembers based on calculation-based approach of Russian code. This investigation shows that, in contraryto its time-consuming calculation, it captures the real behaviour of fire exposed flexural members to a goodextent.
