A Comprehensive Risk Assessment of Concrete Structure Construction of Buildings in Iran abstract

Concrete structures are widely used in building construction in Iran. In 2019, over 68% of buildingpermits issued in Iran were for reinforced concrete structures. This highlights the high demand for concretestructure construction in the country and its importance in building projects in the country. It is importantto note that the building structure account for a significant portion of the building construction cost and isan essential element of every project. Damage to a building's structural system can significantly impact theentire project, leading to substantial financial and human losses. Several factors contribute to the risk offailure in concrete structures, including seismic activity, substandard materials, and inadequate constructionpractices. This paper presents a comprehensive risk assessment framework for concrete structureconstruction in building construction projects in Iran. The presented framework considers various riskfactors such as natural hazards, material quality, design flaws, and construction deficiencies. The paper alsodiscusses mitigation strategies to reduce these risks, including stricter enforcement of building codes, improved quality control measures for materials and construction, and the use of innovative seismicresistantdesign techniques. By implementing a comprehensive risk assessment approach, stakeholders inthe Iranian construction industry can ensure the safety and durability of concrete structure buildings.
