The Evolution of Decision-Making Frameworks in Renewable Resource Management abstract

The sustainable management of renewable resources necessitates dynamic and effective decision-making frameworks that can adapt to evolving environmental, technological, and regulatory contexts. This study aimed to explore and document the evolution of decision-making frameworks in renewable resource management, identifying key themes that characterize the processes and outcomes associated with these frameworks. A qualitative research design was employed, focusing solely on semi-structured interviews to gather in-depth insights from professionals involved in renewable resource management. Participants were purposively sampled to ensure a broad representation of expertise and geographic diversity. Data collection continued until theoretical saturation was achieved, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the decision-making frameworks. Four main themes emerged from the data: Policy Evolution, Decision-Making Processes, Resource Management Practices, and Impact and Outcomes. Each theme was explored through various categories, such as Regulatory Changes, Stakeholder Influence, and Technological Advancements under Policy Evolution; Criteria Development, Process Implementation, and Collaboration and Partnerships under Decision-Making Processes; and similar breakdowns for Resource Management Practices and Impact and Outcomes. The study highlights the complexity and multi-dimensional nature of decision-making in renewable resource management. Effective decision-making frameworks are shown to be crucial for navigating the challenges of sustainability and ensuring the effective management of renewable resources. These frameworks must integrate diverse inputs, adapt to changing conditions, and effectively balance environmental, economic, and social considerations. The sustainable management of renewable resources necessitates dynamic and effective decision-making frameworks that can adapt to evolving environmental, technological, and regulatory contexts.
