Abstract:

Iran is renowned for its rich and astonishing biodiversity, particularly in the realm of medicinalplants and unique, rare species, which have been used in traditional medicine for centuries andare increasingly recognized in modern pharmacology. However, the prevalent practice of sellingmedicinal plants in raw form, without proper processing and extraction methods to preserve thepurity and potency of valuable secondary metabolites, has inflicted deep environmental damagesand harmed local producers and the entire Iranian economy. Despite these challenges, there is ahopeful path for Iran to capitalize on the economic potential of its medicinal plants throughrefining processes. By embracing innovative refining techniques and integrating modernknowledge with traditional wisdom, Iran can position itself at the forefront of the global marketfor natural medicines and herbal supplements. Through a comprehensive approach that combinesscientific innovation with sustainable practices, Iran can not only strengthen its economicresilience but also safeguard its natural heritage for future generations. This article explores thepotential of refining medicinal plants as a strategic pathway to enhance Iran's economic resilienceand discusses the economic, social, and environmental benefits.
