Examining the Effectiveness of Career Path Skills Training Based on Trait-Factor Approaches on Ninth-Grade Students' Career Aspirations abstract

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of career path skills training based on trait-factor theories on the career aspirations of ninth-grade female students. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test, post-test, and follow-up design along with a control group. The statistical population included all ninth-grade female students in District 4 of the Education Department of Isfahan during the 2019-2020 academic year. A total of 30 students were selected using convenience and voluntary sampling methods and were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (15 students each). The research phases included pre-test, intervention, post-test, and follow-up. Data were collected using the Career Aspirations Questionnaire by O'Brien (2015). The experimental group participated in nine 90-minute sessions of the developed career path skills training package. Data were analyzed using covariance analysis. The results indicated that career path skills training based on trait-factor approaches significantly impacted career aspirations, and this effect was sustained over time. Therefore, it can be concluded that the stages of self-awareness, exploration, and planning are crucial in students' academic and career decision-making processes. Emphasizing career aspirations is essential, and students should be trained in career path skills as part of their career self-discovery process, which should also be the foundation for parents, students, and counselors.
