Lab-based Comparison of the Performance of Series Connected Induction Generator with Ordinary Induction Generator at Standalone Operating Mode

This paper investigates the experimental performance of series connected induction generator (SCIG) and compares it with an ordinary induction generator (IG) at standaloneoperating mode. First, the structure of series connected induction generator is presented and then its different modes ofperformance have been introduced. The results of these experiments indicate that series connected induction generator and ordinary induction generator have some similar behaviors.But, SCIG has higher speed range and capability of operating at higher voltage level. So it may be proposed as a suitable candidate for wind power generation at regions with high-speed wind.
