Effectiveness and problems of the modified Hasson technique in laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery abstract

This article reports the effectiveness and problems of the modified Hasson technique in laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove the patient's gallbladder. This technique is primarily indicated for the treatment of cholecystitis (acute/chronic), symptomatic gallstones, biliary dyskinesia, acalculous cholecystitis, pancreatitis due to gallstones, and gallbladder masses/polyps. Laparoscopy is a standard procedure for abdominal surgery; which has a faster recovery rate, shorter hospital stay, reduced risk of postoperative adhesions, and less visible damage than the open method. In 1971, Hasson introduced an open technique to eliminate the dangers of the classic Veress technique. The advantage of Hasson's technique is that the peritoneal cavity is accessible with direct vision. But, on the other hand, compared to the closed method, it is time-consuming. The open technique also carries the risk of more tissue dissection during port placement, which can lead to seroma, hematoma, and infection. Also, in some cases, if the entry into the abdomen is unsuccessful, the entry into the Veress technique may be changed. According to the results obtained from this study, it seems that laparoscopic cholecystectomy using the modified Hasson method has fewer complications and is faster than other methods, which is related to the need for re-surgery due to complications or time and cost. It is very important for patients to visit the hospital frequently.
