Exploring the Efficiency and Sustainability of GreenRoof Systems in Reducing Urban Heat Islands abstract
Green roof systems have been gaining popularity as an effective solution to reduce theurban heat island effect. These systems are designed to insulate buildings and reflectsunlight, thereby lowering the temperature of the built environment. This paper aims toexplore the efficiency and sustainability of green roof systems in reducing urban heatislands. A comprehensive literature review of various studies on green roofs and the urbanheat island effect is conducted. The paper evaluates the effectiveness of different types ofgreen roofs including extensive, intensive, and semi-intensive systems in reducing urbanheat islands. Additionally, the paper discusses the environmental, social, and economicimpacts of green roofs, as well as their potential for energy savings and improved airquality. The conclusion highlights the need for further research to optimize the design andperformance of green roof systems, particularly in cities with extreme climate conditions
