The effects of the sense of belonging to the placeon the creation of the identity factor in theuniversity

A place is a space that we make meaningful. Our identities (including identification withsocial groups) relate to spaces and places. Our spatial connections are important in relation toour identities. In the current research, it is assumed that the identity of the place acts as oneof the components of the social identity and our sense of places affects our perception of theplace and vice versa. Places are the product of relationships and interaction. They are "neverfinished" but constantly under construction. When reflecting on the relationships oforganizational members with places, it is important to note that identities are embedded bysocial action and spatial embodiment and thus a sense of place is formed. Therefore, (as acase study of new universities) our understanding of place goes far beyond the buildings andphysical spaces of universities. In the current study, The effects of the sense of belonging tothe place on the creation of the identity factor in the university will be investigated. Whileidentities have received increasing research attention in neoliberal universities, sense of placehas not received attention in critical debates. Therefore, the present study examines therelationship between the identity factor in university of new and neoliberal universities andthe identity of the place and the feeling of belonging to the place.
