A System Dynamics Approach for Enhancing the Efficiency of Hospital Operating Theatre Services abstract
A hospital's operating theater service system is a complex, large-scale system that requires meticulous management to ensure optimal outcomes for patients. Despite the potential benefits, system dynamics (SD) methodologies are underutilized in hospital operating theaters. This research focuses on the future evolution and potential scenarios for hospital operating rooms. The SD model envisions potential future scenarios, aligns service capacities with patient demand fluctuations, and addresses patient congestion and wait times in the hospital setting. The study presents a causal loop diagram illustrating the interconnectedness of variables in the hospital operating theater system. The findings aim to assist healthcare administrators, decision-makers, and researchers across all levels of responsibility in making informed predictions to minimize patient wait times, reduce backlogs, and facilitate sound decision-making
