Abstract:

The study’s objective is to do a numerical modeling and analysis ofusing waste steel fiber recycled from scrap tyres to improve the strengthand flexibility of concrete. Using steel fiber is a great way to improvethe fracture resistance and tensile strength of the concrete, making itappropriate for use in the building and construction industries. Thesamples were modeled and analyzed using the ABAQUS FEMsoftware. Eight beams with various fiber volume percentages (۰, ۰.۵, ۱,۲, ۳, ۴, ۵, ۶) were examined for this purpose. The samples' dimensionsare ۱۰۰ x ۱۰۰ mm in cross section and ۵۰۰ mm in length. The analyticalresults demonstrate that the addition of fibers improves concreteperformance, resulting in a maximum load increase of more than ۵ foldscompared to the reference beam. The load-deflection, compressivestrength, splitting tensile strength, and fracture energies of beams withdifferent fiber ratios were compared with the experimental andanalytical responses. Among the two approaches, it demonstrates goodagreement across the whole range of loading. As a result, thedeflections obtained from both methods are very similar and withingenerally acceptable limits. So, it can be concluded that the finiteelement method (FEM) allows for much faster and more affordablemodeling and evaluation of the structural parts.
