Abstract:

Due to the drive for better environmental protection and energy conversion efficiency, on-site generation of COx-free hydrogen from ammonia decomposition for fuel cell applications has attracted much attention. Microchannel reactors can be used to produce hydrogen from different fuels. The use of microchannels also enables the integration of multiple functions such as thermal management and gas separation in a compact and portable device. In the conducted studies, the microchannel reactors using different fuels such as natural gas, methanol, and ammonia have performed well in hydrogen production. The advantages of using microchannel reformers in hydrogen production include compact design, efficient heat transfer, high specific surface area, and scalability, which make them a suitable option for hydrogen production in various applications. The review of CFD modeling of hydrogen production from ammonia decomposition (NH۳) involves the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to simulate and analyze the processes involved in converting ammonia into hydrogen. This technique is crucial for optimizing the performance of reactors and improving the efficiency of hydrogen production from ammonia decomposition.
