The importance of data-driven decision making in educational management abstract
This review examines research on data-driven decision making in education to identify strategies for effective implementation. Methods included a literature search on the use of data for educational, evaluation, and policy decisions. Key findings indicate that data enables personalized learning, reflective practice, and strategic resource allocation when reliable indicators are collected and meaningfully analyzed. However, adoption is limited by insufficient data literacy, access barriers and lack of organizational capacity. Suggested strategies include creating a supportive culture, training stakeholders in analytical skills, creating integrated systems, and conducting further research. Consequently, while data has unique potential to drive continuous improvement, fulfilling this promise depends on building systemic capabilities to collect, analyze, interpret, and act on evidence to advance student outcomes.
