Abstract:

Background: There are many articles in the literature about the importance of ۲۵-(OH) vitamin D۳ in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus ۲ (SARS-CoV-۲) cases. However, there is no consensus on ۲۵-(OH) vitamin D۳ to predict the prognosis of SARS-CoV-۲ cases. Additionally, phosphorus, which has an important role in the cytokine storm, contributes to poor prognosis in SARS-CoV-۲ cases. Objectives: This study aimed to examine phosphorus and ۲۵-(OH) vitamin D۳ levels to predict the prognosis of COVID-۱۹. Methods: A total of ۲۳۰ SARS-CoV-۲ cases and ۲۳۰ healthy people were included in this study. ROC curve analysis was performed for combined evaluation of phosphorus and ۲۵-(OH) vitamin D۳ levels. Results: In the ROC curve analysis, the area under curve (AUC) was ۰.۹۲۸۲, the sensitivity was ۹۲.۷۰%, and the specificity was ۹۲.۸۰%. Phosphorus and ۲۵-(OH) vitamin D۳ levels showed negative correlations with procalcitonin, ferritin, D-dimer, C-reactive protein, neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio, and monocytelymphocyte ratio. Conclusion: Low phosphorus and ۲۵-(OH) vitamin D۳ levels may be indicators for poor prognosis in SARS-CoV-۲ cases. Conversely, normal phosphorus and ۲۵-(OH) vitamin D۳ levels may be indicators for a good prognosis in SARS-CoV-۲ cases.
