The relationship between life expectancy and quality of life and optimism in predicting psychological distress in people with vision problems

abstract Background: Blind people are in conflict between feeling the need for help from others and feeling the need for independence. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to determine the relationship between hope and quality of life and optimism in predicting psychological difficulties in people with vision problems. Purpose: The main purpose of the research is the relationship between hope and quality of life and optimism in predicting psychological difficulties in people with vision problems. Research method: The current research is correlational. The statistical population of this research includes all the blind and partially sighted people under the support of the non-governmental educational and rehabilitation institute of Esa Sefid charity organization, who referred to this institute in 1401, and their number is 100, of which 80 are the research sample size. It was chosen voluntarily. The questionnaires of this research include Ahvaz Psychological Toughness Questionnaire of Kiamarthi Scale (1377), Shireez and Carver's Optimism (1985), Miller's Life Expectancy (1999) and Waller's Quality of Life (2007). To analyze the data, one-sample t test, Pearson correlation and simultaneous regression were used Findings: According to the analysis obtained, there is a positive and significant relationship between the variable of life expectancy and psychological toughness (P=0.05>0.05). Also, no significant relationship was found between quality of life and psychological difficulty in people with vision problems (P = 0.5 < 4.9 ̷ 0). Also, other findings showed that there is a positive relationship between optimism and psychological difficulty in people with vision problems (P = 0.50 > 0). Conclusion: Considering the role of psychological toughness on hope and quality of life and optimism in people with vision problems, it can be concluded that the level of fighting spirit and mental toughness of people with physical disabilities is related to their hope for life and their level of optimism for life. which will ultimately increase the quality of life and mental health of people with special problems.
