Abstract:
The Internet of Things (IoT) leads to a revolution in smart environments and smart sensing. Due to the exponential growth in the number of IoT connections across different applications, Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technology entered the IoT market. LPWAN is a preferred technology for IoT deployment due to its low-power, long-range, and cost-effective connectivity. In this study, we discuss LoRaWAN, Sigfox, and NB-IoT specifications because They play a crucial role in IoT communication and have a significant market share in LPWAN connections. This study can assist customers and companies in identifying suitable standards among others and optimizing their options based on their specific scenarios. In addition, MIoTy and RPW as two new emerging LPWAN technologies are described.
