Monitoring of the transformer hot spot with optic sensors abstract
Decreased capital spending by utilities has lead to increased loading of high power transformers. As a result, transformers are running hotter than ever, increasing the importance of having an accurately reported winding hoe spot temperature. Fiber optic sensors provide direct , real – time monitoring of the hot spot , eliminating error in calculations. End user benefits include increased loadability , validation of transformer manufacturing processes, and a more accurate assessment of transformer loss – of – life.
