An advanced geometrical approach for the prediction of tensile strength inbinary polymeric blends abstract

The importance of mechanical properties in polymeric systems is undeniable regrading their finalapplications. In this study, phase separated polymer blends were employed in order to propose apractical model for the prediction of yield strength as a function of the thickness of polymer/polymerinterface for the whole composition range. The knotted and interconnected skeleton structural (KISS)model was taken into consideration and the thickness of polymer/polymer interface as well asmorphological developments in the whole composition range were included in the model. Thepredicted values from the suggested model were in a good agreement with the experimental yieldstrength values.
