A Novel Reactive Vitrimrimer-Like Temperature Responsive Polymer:Synthesis and Characterization abstract

A vitrimer-like polymer based on epoxy-acid was synthesized, having both hydrophilic andhydrophobic segments. This enables the polymer to have thermo-responsive behavior. In addition, free epoxide groups at the end groups, let the polymer react with other reagents. Thus, the finalpolymer has many potential applications, including engineering composites. Epoxy vitrimers arereversible covalently crosslinked networks with dynamic covalent bonds, which combines excellentmechanical properties of thermosets with reprocessability of thermoplastics. While the resulted curedcomposites could have the thermogel-like behavior, besides good mechanical properties, they cancategorized as a grade of recycable materials for a circular economy
