Calenendering of the Oldroyd-B fluid abstract
A finite difference code was developed to simulate calendaring process using “lubricationapproximation” theory. Initially, the code was validated for a Newtonian fluid by comparing itsresults with an existing analytical solution. Subsequently, the code was enhanced to incorporate theOldroyd-B model using a molecular approach, where the Oldroyd-B model is treated as equivalentto Hookean dumbbells. While these viscoelastic models are unable to anticipate shear thinning, theresults indicate the development of normal stresses during calendaring, setting them apart frominelastic models.
