An Investigation on Click Chemistry-based Gelation of CarboxymethylChitosan Sulfate/Oxidized Alginate Injectable Hydrogel abstract

Myocardial infarction (MI) leads to massive cardiomyocyte death and deposition of collagen fibers.Current treatments have limitations, but injectable hydrogel has emerged as a promising method forin situ repair-infracted cardiac tissue. In this study, we prepared an injectable biomimetic hydrogel totreat infarcted tissue. The hydrogel was prepared via a Schiff-base reaction of oxidized alginate (OA)and carboxymethyl chitosan sulfate (CMCS) with angiogenesis function. The presence of sulfategroups in the hydrogel, in addition to its anticoagulant properties, binds specific proteins, includinggrowth factors, and regulates their release. The resulting hydrogels were characterized by FTIR andSEM, and gelation time and self-healing were investigated
