Antibacterial wound dressing study based on poly(vinyl alcohol)/AgNO3 abstract

Wound dressings play a crucial role in the healing process, and antibacterial materials are gainingattention due to their ability to restrain bacterial growth. This study focuses on the development ofantibacterial films based on poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVOH), a biocompatible polymer with non-toxicand hydrophilic properties. The PVOH-based composite films, loaded with AgNO3 (0.25, 0.5, 0.75,1 and 3 w%) exhibit excellent antibacterial performance against Escherichiacoli (E. coli) andStaphylococcus (S. aur), the composite could be suitable for wound healing applications.
