Application of Chitosan-Pluronic Hydrogel Scaffolds for Skin TissueEngineering abstract

Tissue engineering, a multidisciplinary field combining biology, medicine, and engineeringprinciples, focuses on designing biological substitutes to restore or enhance tissue function. Currentapplications include promising treatments for skin injuries, such as wounds and severe burns.Thesynthesized hydrogel, comprising chitosan, pluronic, alginate, and agarose, is designed to supportcell transplantation, proliferation, and tissue growth. Utilizing an electron microscope, the studyexamines the morphology of the hydrogels, revealing a highly porous structure beneficial for tissueregeneration. The sample with a chitosan-to-pluronic ratio of 25–25% exhibited the highestpercentage in UV and swelling test, which were conducted to characterize the hydrogels. the UV testdepended on swelling, higher swelling percentage lead to greater drug release. These results indicatethat the chitosan-pluronic hydrogel scaffold is a promising candidate for use in skin tissue engineeringapplications.
