The dating process of teenagers in cyberspace and its consequences (Mashhad airport families)

Abstract Introduction and purpose: Today, friendship in virtual space has entered the life of people, especially teenagers. But this space is harmful for teenagers because of ignorance and lack of sufficient supervision; Therefore, the present research has studied the process of making friends in cyber space and its consequences on the families of Mashhad Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport. Method: The method of this research is of qualitative and field type, which used the technique of grounded theory to analyze information, the research tool was a semi-standard interview with a number of teenagers. The target population is teenagers, one of their parents or both of them are working at Mashhad Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport. In this research, 6 people were selected as samples, and interviews were conducted with both teenagers and one of their parents. Findings: The findings show that the process of making friends in the virtual space is as dangerous as it is easy due to the attractive and numerous and diverse features of this space, and most teenagers have very little knowledge in this field to the extent that exposed to its dangers and damages. Parents have an important responsibility in this field, some of them have tried to increase their media literacy by participating in educational classes and teach their teenagers many things. By performing three-stage coding, the main elements in the contextual theory such as contextual conditions, causal conditions, mediating conditions, as well as consequences and solutions were obtained, which are discussed in detail in the findings section. Conclusion: The findings show that although there are many contextual and causal conditions that provide the path of dating in virtual space for teenagers, but if the use of virtual space is managed with the supervision of parents and the proper communication between parents and children, it can be an environment Safe to be used for healthy purposes and as a result of adolescent personal growth and development.
