Abstract:
Turbulent flows in open channels are critical for various engineering and environmental applications, significantly influencing sediment transport, hydraulic design, and ecological sustainability. This studypresents a comprehensive analysis that combines experimental measurements using a Laser DopplerAnemometer (LDA) with advanced numerical simulations conducted through the FLOW-۳D ComputationalFluid Dynamics (CFD) package. Key turbulence metrics, including Reynolds stresses, turbulence kineticenergy, and flow velocity profiles, are examined to provide a detailed understanding of flow behavior. Theresults reveal significant insights into the complex flow structure, particularly the effects of boundaryconditions and flow characteristics on turbulence dynamics. The comparative analysis of experimental dataand numerical predictions shows a strong correlation, confirming the effectiveness of the employedmethodologies. This research highlights the necessity of integrating statistical and numerical techniques todeepen the understanding of turbulent flows, ultimately guiding enhancements in hydraulic engineeringpractices and environmental management.
