Investigating the performance of desulfurization system in sponge iron production units by HYL III method abstract

The function of the Desulphurization vessels is to remove the sulphur compound present in the natural gas before it arrives at the mix point and enters the catalytic tubes. The natural gas stream is passed through the Natural Gas KO drum, for removal of entrained liquids. This gas stream goes to the natural gas preheater coils, in the reformer convective section, where its temperature is increased above 300°C. Then it passes through the Hydro-desulphurization unit to convert the possible content of mercaptans and COS into H2S. to finally pass through the desulphurization units, which are used to completely adsorb the sulphur compounds from the natural gas prior to reforming, using zinc oxide as adsorbent media. The Catalysts that use in HYL III process for hydrogenator is KATALCO 61-1T HDS and for desulphurizers is KATALCO 32-5.
