Design, Modeling and Simulation of A Nine-Layer Cadmium Telluride-Cadmium Sulfide Solar Cell abstract

Solar energy is the energy that reaches the earth from sunlight and can be used to generate electricity, heat water and air, produce hydrogen and other energy applications. This type of energy is one of the sources of renewable energy that is produced during the day in a stable and continuous manner through sunlight and does not cause any pollution or damage to the environment. The use of solar energy due to its environmental, economic and security benefits has been expanding rapidly in recent years, and many countries are investing in this field. Multijunction structures have been used to increase the performance of existing solar cells in order to achieve higher efficiency in thin film solar cells with minimal materials. The simulations were performed using the one-dimensional diffusion model in MATLAB and Maple software. Then we theoretically simulated layered solar cells based on cadmium telluride for the first time without using ready-made software and by coding in MATLAB and Maple software. We designed the number of layers in the solar cells in detail. Then, the effect of the number of layers on short circuit current (Jsc), open circuit voltage (Voc), filling factor (FF) and its efficiency was investigated. The main goal of this simulation is to investigate the possibility of efficient and stable multi-junction solar cell structure using codes, which can ultimately create high hopes for achieving higher efficiency for thin film solar cells.
